MONDAY DOESN'T HAVE TO SUCK: 6 CREATIVE RITUALS TO RESET YOUR WEEK

Mondays don’t have to be what they are. They can be a reset, a chance to find your grounding, reconnect with fun and joy inducing goals for the week, and set the tone for the days ahead.
As artists and makers, we carry a lot: the weight of the world, our personal lives, and the pressure to constantly produce. That’s why carving out small rituals can feel like micro-wins and help us start the week feeling steady and inspired.
Here are some ways I've taken a liken to when considering how I want to enter a new week with whatever intention I set, whether that's creativity, more ease, or... a little less chaos.

Set a timer for 15 minutes and create something small:
a sketch, a poem, a messy painting. The point isn’t to be “good,” it’s to spark momentum.
Creativity compounds when you show up, even in tiny bursts.

Keep a folder, digital or physical, filled with things that light you up: color palettes, fabric swatches, quotes, songs, or even textures you’ve photographed. Basically a junk journal for art kids!
When you feel stuck, dip into your “joy archives” to reconnect with why you create in the first place.

Art doesn’t have to be solitary, matter of fact we need togetherness more than ever.
Join a group challenge, contribute to a zine, or play on a shared digital art board with friends. Creating in community reminds us that we’re part of something bigger than ourselves.

I'm typing this as I roll my eyes because this one definitely pertains to me but I wouldn't be me, if I wasn't honest.
I know for damn sure, most of us need a little timeout from doomscrolling.
Try setting specific windows to check the headlines instead of absorbing them on loop. Or begin a digital garden, (shoutout to Cat who put me on) but ultimately, the goal is to guard your attention the way you guard your art practice.

Listen, the less you know, the better.
Meaning, start your day with making before consuming.
Even 10 minutes of doodling or journaling can shift your entire day or perspective. Especially for my friends who like to ruminate (I'm friends.)

Not everything you make needs to be shared or monetized.
Give yourself permission to create without an agenda.
Sometimes the most healing work comes from the pieces no one else ever sees.
The world can feel and quite honestly is chaotic, yet these activities can remind us that creativity is not just about output, it’s also about how you navigate what you're given, to remain playful, and connected.
How you begin your week matters.
So this Monday, instead of scrolling, start with something small, something joyful, something just for you.
